This programme is 30 hours/five days, and runs either across a full week (9am - 3pm, Mon-Fri), or one day a week for five consecutive weeks (e.g., every Tuesday for five weeks).
This course is hands-on involving both classroom and on-the-water elements. On successful completion students will be awarded a Yachting NZ Level 1 Introductory Keelboat Sailing Certificate. The following topics will be covered:
- essential safety skills
- boat parts, rigging & boat terminology
- knots and rope work
- all crew positions including helming
- tackin, gybing and sail settings
- reefing
- man overboard drills
We have capacity for a one-boat course including a minimum of 4 students an a maximum of 6 students; or a two-boat course including a minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 12 students. Total course fees are $632 (GST inclusive).
Wet weather gear, life jackets all boating equipment, and an experienced fully certified skipper included. Just bring lunch, sunscreen, warm clothes, a change of footwear, and closed toe shoes.
